Chikaming Open Lands

17 Preserves in SW Berrien County, MI

The local land conservancy dedicated to preserving the open spaces and natural rural character of southwest Berrien County. We protect and restore native plant and animal habitat in the area, improve water quality in our rivers, streams and in Lake Michigan, and permanently preserve ecologically significant forests, prairies and wetlands, as well as prime farmland and other open spaces in this community. Chikaming Open Lands has multiple preserves that are open to the public, free, and can be visited from dawn until dusk everyday of the year. Each property is unique and offers multiple diverse habitats that make SW Michigan so special. Our preserves have a wide variety of activities for everyone to enjoy from the spectacular spring wildflowers, great birding opportunities or miles of hiking trails.
